My lid is fine, but they made me wear one of theirs because mine is a bit old, and then the visor blew off, reassuring huh?! ;) When he realised I'd only used mine for 18mths and it's been carefully packed away ever since he said it should be fine to use. Theirs was too big too, they only had a small and I'm extra small.

Good to know I should be able to keep up with some of you in the SEM then. I looked at the GSX yesterday and depressingly it was too tall, even thought the seat had been lowered. Back to the drawing board, any thoughts on 500-600cc road bikes for short arses? I know just getting the balls of my feet down is fine once I have my confidence back but I'd like to start off in a slightly more considered way after getting the RD after a weeks riding last time!

Have you considered a honda hornet? Probably a much more appealing option than a GSXF. Theyre pretty popular, so youre local honda dealer should have at least one for you to look at.
Sporty too

If you want a bike that won't cost much and you'll be able to out flat feet to the ground the Kwak GPZ500 would fit the bill.  I know a couple of female riders have these and feel really comfortable with the seat height.

I am only 1 inch taller than you (although I may have slightly longer legs/shorter body) 'normal' build (size 10) and I ride a Thundercat with an 805 seat. Only thing I prefer to do is get off to park it rather than try and backpeddle with my feet. I think once you have been back on a bike for a couple of weeks, a 785 seat should feel fine.
