Hi all,

I'm another newbie from Southport\Preston way, thought with the test changing later on this year, I better stop talking and actually start riding!

So, I've passed my CBT (I turned up and listened!), passed my Theory (breeze, 49/50) and passed the Hazard Perception (bit too close for comfort, as they discounted one of my scores for clicking too much - video was on a London High Street, there was hazards everywhere).

Got my training and test this week.

Call me a fool, but I have decided not to do my DAS (I am early 30's) for a few reasons.

I haven't got a lot of money to spend on a bike.

I've got even less to spend on the insurance.

I don't think a few days training is actually going to make me competent on a bike, so best get some experience on something a less powerful.

Quick ebay question, if you've seen a bike at a price that looks too good to be true, then from the sellers feedback, you notice that they only bought it a week ago, is it best to avoid it like the plague? :?

Right, thats me for now, I 'll let you know how it goes next week (If I pass!).

Ian

Hi mate:cool:

I dont understand, you ARE doing your 'big bike' test then?

Regarding ebay, I'd be careful of purchasing there but if you post the link, we can give you our thoughts (dont worry, no-one here has spare cash to snaffle it from under your nose).
Good luck with your test. (?)

Being over 21 he can do his on a 125 and just be restricted for a couple of years, I'm guessing.

Welcome to the board.  :)

I will be taking my test on a 125, so IF I pass I will be restricted to 33bhp for the first 2 years.

As said, I decided to do that mainly for cost reasons, both buying the bike and insuring it.

Also, having had my first day of training today, I can see that I really do need to actually learn to 'ride' a bike, rather than just pass my test.

Am I a big girl or did 50 mph seem about as fast as you'd like to go when you first started? Any faster and it felt like I was going to fall off.

Maybe its different on a bigger bike?

Everything gets better on a bigger bike.  ;)
