I'm really not trying to 'win' anything and neither am I trying to be awkward, but please explain it to me. Let's simplify it: the BNP are cunts, right? On this we can agree, surely? So, anyone who votes for them is a cunt. How is that hypocritical? How can condemnation of bigots be bigoted in itself?

Are people getting bigotry (obstinate adherance to an opinion) confused with discrimination (differentiating through difference)?

Discrimination can be both reasonable and unreasonable. If I were employing a babysitter it would be perfectly reasonable to discriminate on the grounds of previous criminal conviction but totally unreasonable to do so on the grounds of race.

It is therefore discriminatory to take a dislike to supporters of the aims of the BNP, but probably perfectly reasonable to do so.

Maybe. I guess if we use the simplest description of bigotry, ie: intolerance, and I'd certainly admit to being intolerant of bigots, then I'm a bigot and a hypocrite. But given the circumstances and subject matter, there has to be some leeway.

If one condemns, say, Nazis (away from whom the BNP lie only a short step), does that make one a bigot and a hypocrite? I'd hardly say so.

I just noticed my own spectactular tautology.

Whatever you call it, I think it's fair enough to give short shrift to those who propound the principles of racism.

Boris says he'll open bus lanes to motorcycles. X marks the spot. We'll see.

As for the BNP - well, anyone who votes for them needs boiling. A hateful, horrible party, appealing to thick, narrow-minded bigots.

Have you ever actually met anyone that has voted BNP?

Of course, but can this description actually be applied in every case? I don't think so. Nazis are cunts, right? What's hypocritical about that statement?

Nothing. But that's not what you said :D

Do you agree with every single policy for the party you vote for?

It was an example of a statement of exactly the same principle. The BNP are cunts, right? So anyone who votes for them is a cunt. That's not hypocritical, it's just a fact. I don't make the facts. Buy maybe some people agree with Ronald Reagan when he said 'Facts are stupid things.'

Of course I don't agree with every single policy of any party, but the BNP preach hatred and division, prey on the weak and the needy as they thuggishly spew forth their bile and evil garbage. I don't have any time for this sort of shite, and am happy to be labelled a hypocrite if this is what makes me so.

Absolutely.

Not necessarily. I don't think that the BNP are gaining popularity because people think they are a good option. I think that many normal people all over the UK are feeling scared about the changes they see, and are dissatisfied with inaction or soft policies from the traditional parties.
By voting BNP perhaps they feel they are making a statement to the tories and labour.
Of course, there is always the meathead contingent who are of course, cunts.

The only problem that the BNP have for those that use strong language about them is that they don't happen to agree with the people using the strong language.  Those people for me are as bad as the BNP in their boorish intolerance. A lot of people are turning to the BNP who have been ignored and let down by mainstream politicians and they aren't cunts. If you live in, say, a Northern mill town and are overwhelmed by and treated worse than immigrants the BNP are an open door and who is to dismiss these people as "racist" in these circumstances? They have grievances and mainstream politicians dismiss the BNP at their peril. The equivalent in France gets more and more powerful and came second in a presidential election once. If they were only against mass uncontrolled immigration into the UK then I would agree with them and that isn't racist.

I don't support the BNP but would use them as a protest vote any time to shake up our mealy mouthed mainstream politicians who basically need a kick up the arse. The BNP has every right to exist in a democracy as long as they don't break the law. The law has been tested against them and they were cleared. Are they any worse than some of the inverse racists in our midsts such as the Imams and their supporters who preach hate against us?

You won't be surprised to hear me lend my support to Dooley's sentiment. Who gives a fuck if they're operating perfectly legally having been tested in the courts? This doesn't stop them and their supporters being cunts. Protest vote? Do me a fucking favour...

I can understand how perfectly normal people could find pictures like this frightening. When people are scared, they take radical steps. Is it any wonder cunts like the BNP are gaining popularity?

Yup, Dooley's 100% right as far as I'm concerned. And those who forget history and are condemned to re-live it? They're cunts too. Stupid ones.
