Good thread.  Five bands that left impressions:

I saw Primus some years ago & Les Claypool on the bass blew me away.  I always wondered if he could reproduce what he does on his CDs live and not only could he do it, but he did it while jumping all over the stage like a maniac.  It was awesome.

U2 during their Zoo TV tour at the Oakland Coloseum.  It was a huge, elaborate, show.  The music was great.  I loved it.

Tom Petty, at one of Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit shows.  Neil Young puts these acoustic shows together every November in the Bay Area.  Tom Petty was a showman.  Very entertaining.

I saw Rush last summer.  I'm not sure if I'm listing them because they were great or because its the last show I went to, but Neil Peart was incredible on the drums and I don't think there's any other 3 man band out there with such a big sound.

I think though, that musically, the best I've seen is the Dave Matthews Band.  Incredible.  Everyone on that stage was excellent.  They really connected with the crowd too.  Everyone was dancing, enjoying themselves.  Even if you've never paid much attention to Dave Matthews, I'd recommend seeing him if he comes round.  He's definitely worth seeing.  I guarantee you'll be entertained.
