Just been given a ticket for flicking my fag butt into the road. WTF!?!?! You have got to be shitting me. About a half a dozen folk stroll in before me after doing the same thing, nothing, none nabbed, me, your nicked mate.
Southwark Council = Fuckers.

Eek, that's a bit harsh.
My mum used to have a little pearl encrusted silver 'handbag ashtray' complete with fag rest... try EBay.

I would have given myself a ticket for looking dodgy anyway.

That's the beauty of safety in numbers - all the rest got away with it and might learn from your mistake .

If they feel like chipping in to pay the fine as well, that would be nice.

| Good. Why didn't you put it out and then put it in the bin/ashtray? Good to see someone's doing something about cunts who drop litter. Winds me up to fuck.

I would have done if the nearest ashtray/bin wasn't 50 yards away whilst having to cross 4 lanes of traffic.

i hate litter too, but i think extending it to fag butts is a bit much. they've always been flicked into the streets, what's changed is the number of them cos of the ban

Sounds harsh, completely over the top for what it is, but the law is an ass.
I bet all the others were car drivers and you looked obviously like one of those shifty motorcyclist types

Put it out on the pavement, put it in your pocket and discard it later. It's not difficult. You're a big boy. Litter of any kind makes the place look shit and if you chuck something on the ground, everyone's got to fucking look at it and someone else has to pick up after you. Littering is the ultimate selfish act.

What is more selfish? Genuine interest, not just being argumentative.
Urinating in public might seem to be but then that will get washed away with the next rain.

Funny - thought you'd feel this way. I'm light, thanks. But the casual disregard for anyone else in issues like this and the one from the other day, the 'fuck you'-ness of it. The stock 'how can that be right?' response when someone gets pulled up for doing something really fucking selfish baffles me.
I like the streets to look nice when I'm walking down them and not to have some prick redlining their sportsbike as I go. It's not too much to ask, is it?

What about parking in 'disabled' bays - is that more, or less, selfish?
*edit for inadvertent negative

If they should let you off a fag butt, but not a car boot full of rubbish, where do you draw the line? Littering is a terrible thing. If it takes a bit of arse-kicking to make it as unacceptable as drink driving, is that such a bad thing?
