sarcasm (sär'kăz'əm)
n.- A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.
- A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.
- The use of sarcasm. See synonyms at wit1.
[Late Latin sarcasmus, from Greek sarkasmos, from sarkazein, to bite the lips in rage, from sarx, sark-, flesh.]

Er, kinda got your meaning first time CJG - mine was a left-field comment apropos four fifths of feck-all.
No change there then!
It's interesting though isn't it? Language notwithstanding, Humbly offered opinions always sound apologetic to me, like an apology for having an opinion at all. Why offer any opinion with a caveat? If all you are exchanging is opinions then they are only worth what they are worth in any case. It's a totality - understood.
Ignore me - I'll go back to sleep.

I would suggest that many here would benefit greatly from a little humility

No argument offered. It's a hard commodity to spot here, even when it's present.
Not a means of communication, is it? I guess we all knew that though.

So where's this offensive post then? There should be some kind of sign to show which posts are argumentative, provocative or antagonistic etc, that way spectators will know where to head as soon as we log on Kinda like channel 4's late night triangle thingy back when I was really young!

Care to elaborate as to what type of subject you're talking about? All seems a little vague to me..

Bandit,
I do not intend to give any further publicity to offending posts it is quite obvious when you look at what has been posted recently and the comments from a lot of forum members who obviously don't like what is being posted.
Safe riding hope your enjoying your bandit 1200 as much as I do. I changed the tyres on mine at the back of the summer to Avon's which I won on the readers route and they made a helluva difference to the handling mate.

Bit of a cop out eh? What's the point in giving a very vague example of something, then refusing to explain what it is that you're actually referring to. Not a very good basis for selling your point I'd have thought. Holding something up as a bad example isn't giving it publicity, it's condemning it surely? And if someone asks a question then obviously it ain't obvious is it? You could have meant anything, we don't all read every single thread do we?

Enjoying my Bandit? Does Bin Laden need an extra arsehole tearing? Better believe it matey! Personally though I've found Bridgestones the best - 010/020's stick like the proverbial to a blanket

I think that we need to remember why we are here. (Sometimes me included).
We are all bikers which means we all have loads in common.
The thing that gets me down sometimes is the lack of respect for other peoples opinions, some get carried away and get abusive just because someone else holds a different view, sad !

Aside from a love of bikes, what else would you presume we share in common then?

If you ride a bike the chances are you enjoy speed, cornering and wheelie`s , you will have an interest and an opinion on tyres, helmets, gloves, boots etc.
You will also enjoy motorcycle events like Moto GP TV stuff like Suzi Perry and the long way down for example.
Did I really need to explain this to you.
Now, do you know about the birds and the bees ? Would you like me to explain that to you as well ?

Yes, it has not only lost the plot but thrown away the map and put on a blindfold.
Would't have it any other way.

No need to get so defensive, I just asked a simple question.
All you've listed are biking associated themes; there's nothing outside of that. Do you like ballet? How about cooking? What do you read? Real ale fan? Where do you go on holiday? Do you lke children? What is your degree in? Own your own business? Marmite, love it or hate it?
The list is endless and I'd be surprised if any motorcycle rider has much in common (outside their love of bikes and biking themems) as people are so diverse.
And not all riders like watching racing. Nor does everyone rate Suzi Perry- ever considered gay riders?
