In Essex, usually on May Bank Holiday and when we used to live nearby, we had 10 000+ bikes turn up and Plod was v friendly.

Anyone been/going this year?

I won't be there but I'd appreciate a few pictures of what used to be my old stomping ground.  :)

I think you have missed it I think it was Easter Bank Holiday this year. I did find a Link on the Ace Cafe website. There is the usual Maday BAnk Holiday run from Locks Bottom to Hastings ((05.05.08). If the weather is good we have had over 20 thousand bikes turn up!

Weather was awful, only a handful from other Yamaha forums I visit showed up.

I would have gone but Monday was first time I could venture outside and we just had too many chores to catch up. There's some pics on the RD forum ...

It does look a bit grey.  Still, it serves me to remind me that I don't miss the place.  :D

As I actually live in Southend it would be rude not to have wandered down to the seafront with so many making the effort. It was pretty grey and the turn out was a bit poor compared to the blazing hot year before.

I pushed my boy down the length of the front on his own three wheeler and he seemed to enjoy. There weren't that many show bikes nor too many real classics this year. Lots of stock Harleys, loads of race reps and a good smattering of rat bike V8-V12 trikes all posed outside The Shorehouse - Southend's premier seafront strip joint!

I took some arty shots but they're on the PC. Will upload them tomorrow.

One thing my wife and I noticed that is a) pretty insulting and b) massively stereotypical is that most of the bikers wandering about were a) very badly dressed - lots of red and purple combats and denim gillets and b) in need of a damn good wash.

What did make me smile in a purely there but for the grace of God go I way was that when we got back to the car the snow started the fall and then really, really came down! I really wouldn't fancy the trip back down the A13 in the driving snow with an open face and denim on a 60's single!

*Is that still going?  Blimey; I'd have hoped it had been torn down years ago.  Looking forward to the pics.

Harleys to the left of me, Harleys to the right... what is the collective noun for a mess of hogs? A chrome of Harleys perhaps?
