chris r wrote: I can understand where Karter is coming from, it really is none of my business what other people do & I shouldn't let it bug me....but it just does, especially when it comes to the safety of others.

I remember the couple of times I was a pillion....I hated it, once on the back of a GPZ600, the other on the back of a Harley (what a choice of bikes to sit on ;)....mind you, for it's time the GPZ was a pretty good bike). I couldn't stand not being in control & shat myself whenever a car came into a half mile radius.

So thats my frame of mind when I see that sort of stuff, if it was me on the back I would rather get off & walk.

No you're right and it should bother you the same as it does me. If you saw a 5 year old with scissors/knives/ a gun! i would like to think you would get involved as i would (unless they were pointing the gun at me while robbing me...)

A mate of mine nearly had me off the back of a Kawa 900. Sat at lights, innocent like, then he decides to drag race a car. Luckily me toes caught under the pegs, head did get quite close to the tarmac though :?

Three words people- "freedom of choice"

OK, as an adult in the case of the kid, one has a due responsibility to ensure his safety, however, as pointed out, nothing actually happened.  Maybe he insisted on being taken pillion and they had no kit to use?  Who can disappoint a child?

In the example of the burd pillion, she was able to decide for herself what to wear or not- it's not the rider's responsibility of she wants to take the risk and live a little.

Live and let live, irrespective of how tempting it is to comment on others.

(I just love this debates; it's such a good opportunity to play Devil's Advocate.)

A quiet 5 minutes at work & MS Paint :D. Do you think I missed my true calling in life?:P

Don't know. What's your current work?

Then again, if you have time to doddle while being paid, maybe you ave found the perfect gig.

As you are in London, perhaps it's best that I don't tell you what I do for a living :D

I'm glad you put the last bit on Karter, makes it clear you are arguing for the sport of it, though I'm disappointed no-one waded in with the "kid hater" bit again, that always amuses me.

I only added that as an after thought as we have some newer members perhaps not quite used to my posting style.  ;)

So that's what you've been doing all along?!? I did not know that. So the dull topics you start (which you seem to have knocked on the head) - they were deliberately dull?? Very clever.... Now i'm in on the joke....;)

It's always the thick ones who catch up late and pretend to have been part of the gang from the beginning, isn't it?

Of course it's all relative; most if not all non bikers think we're all crazy with a death wish just by riding in the first place; so it's safe to assume that one biker might well think of another as mad when that first biker has no idea of the skill/experience of another - maybe the guy is really skilled and is well within his/her comfort zone; just like you when the neighbour thinks you're gonna kill yourself and you know you're only at 50%...

As for the adult burd on the back; my wife's insured so I win the whole house, cher-ching!!!;)

Wow as someone who take their kid on the bike i find this totally shocking. Dan's welfare is the most important thing to me. I ride like its wet and I'm on even skinnier tyres than i am. My son is the most important thing to me so i always kit him out and ride extra carefully. Wow what a dick, bikes impress kids regardless u don't need to ride like a twat to do it.

I am the proud mum of the coolest kid in school because i give him lifts on the bike, it wouldn't be cool or anything to be proud of if i killed the poor little mite.
