Having a walk around my village the other night & I noticed that a guy who lives round the corner was taking his kid/nephew….whatever, out for a spin on the back of his beemer (forget which model it is).
I'm not sure what family life these people must have, but I'm sure there must be easier ways to kill people? This guy was riding like a total dick, at one point completely ignoring a junction, didn't even stop to check for traffic & pulled out at a fair rate of knots in front of a very shocked looking jag driver.
If people want to ride like twats, fine, it's their funeral, but if you have some kid on the back, I would have thought a bit of caution may be in order. Try showing a bit of restraint & at least give the kid some trousers & a jacket, a kid bouncing down the road at silly speed in shorts & a t-shirt is not a sensible afternoons leisure activity.
Why not take the poor kids to the flicks, buy him a nintendo, read him a book, take him to the park for a kick around, not scare the shit out of him & pretend you are fecking Rossi.
What a cock.

Did he crash and burn? Did the kid get harmed?
If not, what's the point in getting stressed over potential accidents?
You can't influence others, so chill.

maybe the kid had hopped on at the last minute without the rider noticing?
and if he did know and the kid was his then he should be rewarded for attempting to halt his wayward gene pool

Didn't see any crashes......but it was very close, and all cos the rider was a twat. As I said, if he wants to ride like that on his own then go nuts, it just annoys me that someone would risk this kids safety for a few high speeds thrills. If he wants to show the kid high speed thrills, take it to Alton Towers, not on the road.

Missed the front of a moving car which would have hit him side on by about 6 feet at well over 40mph.
At those speeds 6 feet is nothing.

A guy here in brisbane lost his girlfriend off the back on a highway allegedly flat out on a fireblade! She didn't die so far as I heard but still how terrifying would that be.
On the other hand I have fond memories of jumping on bikes with irresponsible adults as a kid.

With the kid being so young he wouldn't have realised the danger, and it is the responsibility of the rider to ride safely. personally i dont take pillions because it slows you down, and unless your pillion has experience they always lean at the wrong times and make your life harder. I can see your point about being angry and everything, but it really isn't your problem. Some people are twats, life goes on.

The red line is the bike, the blue the jag, X marks where the car slammed on the anchors.
Ok, I'll let it go now...still bugs me though

| On a similar note... Riders on sports bikes, head to toe in Arai, Alpinestars, Sidi etc. Girlfriend perched up high on the back in jeans, flip-flops and a jumper. Scary. How would you live with yourself should the unthinkable happen? Makes me shudder every time I see it.

I can understand where Karter is coming from, it really is none of my business what other people do & I shouldn't let it bug me....but it just does, especially when it comes to the safety of others.
I remember the couple of times I was a pillion....I hated it, once on the back of a GPZ600, the other on the back of a Harley (what a choice of bikes to sit on ....mind you, for it's time the GPZ was a pretty good bike). I couldn't stand not being in control & shat myself whenever a car came into a half mile radius.
So thats my frame of mind when I see that sort of stuff, if it was me on the back I would rather get off & walk.

Whenever I take a pillion I see it as my responsibility to look after them. If a rider crashes, fault or not, and the passenger dies, I would imagine that the rider would have difficulty explaining to his/her parents why their offspring wasn't properly attired. Somehow I think 'but it was surely her/his choice' might not cut it in that situation.Last edited on Wed May 7th, 2008 08:56 pm by SteveR76

| You're right he's a cock. And you're right to be angry because it's unnecessary and irresponsible.
