Had a nice little "de-stress" ride last night in the small hours on the M1. Unleashed the little er6n to see what she could and at 125mph (by accident ociffer!) the front started vibrating. It didn't do that on the newly resurfaced stuff - just on the old, crappy "beigey" stuff so am just hoping it was that but was disconcerting all the same so just want to know if there is something else i should be looking at?

ps- not riding my er6n at that speed is not the advice i'm looking for. Apart from that it was really stable and felt lovely. Just thought i would share that.

Is that a Times cryptic crossword clue?

If it didn't do it on other surfaces then it's probably that. And the fact the the 6n wasn't really designed to be ridden at that speed, unless on a perfect surface. It's hardly the most aerodynamic design either, which probably contributes to the effect.

The first thing I would suggest to check is your grip - if you don't do that kind of speed often you may be hanging on a bit tight which will make everything feel much worse.

but it prob is just the road and nowt to worry about

I think it is unlikely to be bar ends Karter - Eddie your bike is standard isnt it?

Heavier bar ends cut down on vibes.

Well its got crash bungs and thus extended handle bars aswell - are they what he means?  I reckon it was just the road...i'll only play on the smooth stuff from now on.

How do you test for that at 125mph? is it on one of those dyno things? is it expensive? and why aren't you taking the piss??? ;)

He is, it's another Times crossword clue.

you accelerate up to 125, hit the front brake - if you can nose wheelie
 to a standstill you're ok

Have you got the type that fit the ends of the bars replacing the bar end weights,if they are lighter than the standard bar ends then they will not damp as much vibration.

Listen.
He gassed it on a rough road and the front vibrated. "Apart from that it was really stable and lovely".

I can't see any issue here :?

If the bar ends are blue then this might be the problem. Black are best, but red might suffice. Yellow tyres are gripiest at 125mph, green at 115mph.

Has anyone suggested WD40 on the brake discs yet?

Silver(bare alloy) or black are the only acceptable colours for bar ends(and bolts).
