I said plenty, I did not say all.

I saw plenty of road legal bikes being trailored in.
Likewise I didn't say if they were all road legal or not. I asked if you'd inspected them to see if they were road legal or not.
It's actually quite easy to see indicators, headlamps and road legal tyres from quite a distance without the need for up close scrutinisation. For me, and most people with any knowledge, road legal tyres can be spotted with a cursory glance.
Clear enough for you now.

As regards insurance, that is a very different matter, but I suspect that someone who had no intention of using a bike on the road, would fit it with road tyres, do you ?:?
I think they may swap the wheels to use their road bike on the track. Does that make sense to you?As I said, I saw plenty of road legal bikes with road legal tyres. Where I was standing they were all lined up in front of me and I saw no wheel changing going on

Oh and un-insured does not mean not road legal.

I have a bike in my garage that is MOT'd but not insured, but it is road legal, should I decide to insure it.
But if you rode it without insurance it would be, hence the need to trailor it to the track? No, a bike can be technically road legal, but not be taxed, MOT'd or insured. Do you actually know what road legal means, in the context of road worthyness, slicks versus road tyres, etc.
Do you know what, I don't think I've met anyone who knows as little as you do about bikes.
You've never met me, so how would you know?I can't believe you said that. Your posts aren't actually too bad, untill you try and appear to know something about bikes, which is when it all falls apart.

Cousin Jack,

No problem with yer average Goldwing rider, even when pulling a trailer, not my cup of tea but thats immaterial.

No it was the fact that some turned up at the Owners Club rally with their "ultimate tourer" inside a trailer. Suppose it might make a tiny amount of sense in a country the size of the US, but on this little overpopulated island seems quite ridiculous.

Having said that, no more ridiculous than at the classic bike show running alongside handing Best In Show to a 1971 Triumph Trident which arrived on a trailer, left on a trailer, and  judging by the pipes and discs, has never turned a wheel in anger.

Bikes is Bikes, and bikes are meant to be ridden, and not just a precious bauble to show off and polish.

I met two 'older' guys on wings the other day; an 02 model and an 06. Both had over 100,000 miles on them!

As for trailering road legal bikes to the track; so what; maybe the people doing that don't want to ride home when they're all fired up from track speeds, or maybe they live hundreds of straight motorway miles away, or perhaps they bring the car/van coz it's full of tools/food/drink/spares etc - all tricky stuff to stash under the seat of a modern sportsbike...

agreed,

Not big into track days myself, (mainly due to being skint!) but if i were would definately trailer them there. You would only need a small "off " to make the bike unrideable and leave you stranded.

As for the goldwings, yup, mega mileage is what they are built for and good at, so thats how they should be used, not ponced around in a bleedin trailer.

Truer words were never spoken, lad!   No problems or offense taken.......

Red and I once crossed some desolate wasteland, from Price, Utah, to Grand Junction, Colorado, on an old Wing.  The temperature was 105 degrees F.; I don't know what that is in "celery," but hot, damned hot, I think!   We were passed halfway across by some dude in his brand new, air-conditioned Ram pick-up truck with his spotless Harley strapped in the back.  We could tell he was laughing at us as he went by.....

At the Visitor's Center at Grand Junction, we saw him again, parked all by himself away from other cars, still inside, engine idling, air-conditioner humming, eating an ice-cream bar.   I went way out of my way to park right beside him; where we crawled off the Wing and shrugged out of our travel-stained, sun-faded touring jackets, our faces running with rivulets of sweat.... he couldn't meet our eyes.

Childish, I know, but, God.... how satisfying!

:D:D:D
