..........would you buy an ulitmate "grand tourer" like a Goldwing, then turn up at a rally with it INSIDE a trailer, towing it with a monstrous pick-up of motorhome?
The Goldwing Owners Club of GB had their rally in my home village this wekend, and several attendees arrived in such a manner...........just what is that all about?

Maybe they were on long term holiday and the trailered bikewas for local runs after they had arrived in the area they wanted to stay in for a while?
In the states recently I saw a monster motorhome, towing a 4wd on a trailer, and a second trailer with a Harley Electra Glide.
Some people dont get the idea of restraint at all!

Isn't a Goldwing a motorhome?

| There's plenty of Goldwings over here, (US) towing trailer tents and such. And in fairness to them being towed behind motorhomes, (over here anyway) is they often drive from northern states in the middle of winter, thousands of miles to the southern states to cruise around. Same thing happens at places like Daytona and Sturgis with the HDs; although when you see a HD at Daytona with a Florida plate on it... that's when they get the name Hardley Riddensons!

What's wrong with that? Maybe they had race tyres on that weren't road legal?

Read the post ffs.
I said road legal.
If a bike had slicks on it wouldn't be road legal would it.

You inspected them all then? All of them? There were lots of them, don't forget. Maybe you were the track marshall that day?
If you ride on a track you're not insured with your road insurance, so maybe they weren't insured and weren't road legal after all?

Again, take a deep breath and read the post

I said plenty, I did not say all.
I saw plenty of road legal bikes being trailored in.
Clear enough for you now.
As regards insurance, that is a very different matter, but I suspect that someone who had no intention of using a bike on the road, would fit it with road tyres, do you ?
Oh and un-insured does not mean not road legal.
I have a bike in my garage that is MOT'd but not insured, but it is road legal, should I decide to insure it.
Do you know what, I don't think I've met anyone who knows as little as you do about bikes.

Likewise I didn't say if they were all road legal or not. I asked if you'd inspected them to see if they were road legal or not.
Clear enough for you now.

I think they may swap the wheels to use their road bike on the track. Does that make sense to you?
Oh and un-insured does not mean not road legal.
I have a bike in my garage that is MOT'd but not insured, but it is road legal, should I decide to insure it.
But if you rode it without insurance it would be, hence the need to trailor it to the track?
Do you know what, I don't think I've met anyone who knows as little as you do about bikes.
You've never met me, so how would you know?

Most bikes trailered over here are Harleys......... poser-types who trailer to a rally and then unload and sit on 'em....... many, many such bikes are now up for sale. Hard times call for such ridiculous prestige toys to be eliminated forthwith .....
Most Wingnuts, including myself, are true tourers, often with hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock. They often pull small camping trailers; understandable as they are usually a couple in their mid-sixties and the ground they sleep on is gettin' kind of hard! But, please cut them a break..... most are people of the most pleasant kind and would generally give you the shirt off their back and the dollar from their wallet if they thought you needed it.....
Remember, don't laugh at a Goldwing couple! They may be your grandparents!
