Anyone found decent cover for their bike anywhere other than Bennetts, Carole Nash or eBike?

Policy is up for renewal later this month and so far the scores are...

Carole Nash  £183-93 (first offer through post so I hope to get this down a bit)

Bennetts       £187-00

eBike             £115-00

All include breakdown and legal cover.

EDIT: Just got an online quote at Carole Nash and it came out at £156-80. Cheaper than the one they sent through the post!!!

I just got a fantastic quote :)

last year i was paying nearly £700 for me and HoTF F/C on the hornet with no NCB this was with Bennetts, this year it was even more, so went online and finally got a quote for under £400 (thats including paying by instalments) I got 93 days european cover, 100k legal cover, £1,500 helmet and leather cover, 1 yr NCB, 3rd party to ride any other bike, both of us FC on it, pillion cover and business class 1 insurance. Plus the 250 excess is guaranteed, so if i make a claim, i pay it and they re-imberse me. So thats a saving of 300 quid and one happy bunny. I went though Swinton. give them a call. good luck, its a biker market out there, there is series competition and i had companies calling me and trying to better the quotes i had been getting but it was all sorted in less than 24 hours.

i went online first, tescos got me 10 cheap quotes and it went from there, they started contacting me and the competition began:D

I find that if you stay with the same insurance company for over 2 years they seem to take you for granted & rip you off.

Just renewed the car insurance - got it for £100 less through another broker with the same insurance company than what they wanted for the renewal direct.

:?

Carole Nash, not the cheapest but Their breakdown cover is good and I have a multi bike policy with them which other ins don't seem to do. i might try Footman James next time as I get a discount with them for being a VMCC member.

Carole Nash; cheap but when it comes to paying out...

When my bike got nicked they took three months to pay up and even gave me the ins underwriter's number so I could chase it up myself! Then they openly admitted that bike payouts are never as fast as cars because; "it's not like you need a bike for work or anything is it?" :X

Conversely, when I had a claim through Carole Nash in January this year it was settled within ten working days, and my claims handler there helped me get the initial offer from the insurance company (remember, Carole Nash are a broker, they aren't the actual insurer) increased by 20%.

And that related to the writing off of just one of the three bikes on my multi-bike policy with them, so clearly I didn't need that bike for work.

Got my renewal from Carole Nash following an accident in January: £480.  Devitt gave me better cover for £320.  Bloody marvellous.  Avoid Bennetts though. Bunch of robbing bastards.  Feel free to send me the £230 you owe me any time guys.

When I bought a Ducati Monster I found Ducati's own insurance to be the best. Later when I traded it in for the GSXR, Ducati's insurance company were still the cheapest. Had a very sweet conversation with them along the lines of "ooh, you do know you'll be going up by several groups in insurance, I do feel I should warn you..."

Me: "Just gimme the quote."

Insurer: "I'm afraid this will increase your premium by around £90"

Me: "Where do I sign?"

LOL, that sounds about right EK, before I actually went ahead and agreed to the Swinton deal I phoned Bennetts to see if they could do any better than the quote they gave me originally or the one i had from swintons, when i gave the lad on the other end of the phone the swinton deal he replied with, no chance, shall i cancel your renwal then?:D

......and to top it off I got back from Loonydon yesterday and there was another quote from Bennetts, and it was another 150 more than the original quote:shock: which makes it more than 400 quid more than I am now gonna be paying:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

Directchoice were cheapest for me but you never know how "good" an insurance company is until you have a claim, Tesco's was the worst experience I have ever had with any insurance company.

Conversely, I found Motorcycle Direct to be absolutely superb in that respect.

Not tesco but tesco compare http://www.tescocompare.com/motorbike.shtml it gives the best poss quotes (rarely tesco's own) AND found me one through Equity Red Star and Norwich Union that gave me a NCB accelerator which meant if I could prove I had 5 years NCB on my car they'd give me 3 year NCB for the bike - which was nice as I only had 1 year NCB racke dup so far on the bike. No, I didn;t have to move my car policy and no it wouldnt affect my car policy at all. Great service IMHO.
