Rather than use the website, we're trying something new.

Using the forum, you can write and post your own description and details, upload pictures, videos and more to show people why your event needs their help.

Hopefully it'll be quicker and easier for everyone.

RIGHT...... I'm going first, I remember 50 thousand, squilldillion years ago...... in some magazine, someone had a C90 honda step thru, and rode it to the top of Ben Nevis.......... Dunno why but 'Motorcycle Mechanic's' sticks in my mind. ( it may have been the APRIL 1st issue)

Now then, I have 'walked' up Ben Nevis, and it was not easy......... to do it on a C90 seems mental............. SO as i have just had a serious MI ( heart attack) I fancy having a go ( NO not on a moped) but on a pukka trials bike,

Is anyone out there prepared to lend/rent/sponsor me with the correct tuition, and equipment to attempt this.

I will raise as much sponsorship as possible, in support of the British Heart Foundation..........

So, What I need is

A A lend of a capable trials bike, that could be crashed to bits
B Someone to teach me how to ride it........ ( only ever ridden MX/Enduro B4)
C A film crew...... ( Joking....) and support
D Permission from the Ben Nevis National Park people
E Ewan Mcgregor, 'coz he is a really nice bloke, and i reckon, he would support it too

Bike magazine to feature it, to raise EVEN more money for the BHF

Hey............Shy kids get NOWT !!!!!!! ;)

TK,

this sounds like a blinder of an idea.  what you need though, is someone of equally, or  less talent at the task than yourself to help you through it.  i'll volenteer....

I rode a Puch Maxi moped to the summit way back in the 'seventies, assisted by ex-Motor Cycle journalist Peter Fraser.  At the time we both worked for the PR agency that handled Steyr-Daimler-Puch promotion in the UK.  The achievement generated great publicity for Puch, and also raised cash for a childrens charity.

So I'm not mental after all...... I do remember it being featured in 'motorcycle mechanics' I think the great and sadly late JR was the editor way back then.

How do you go about organising such an antic... and do you think it would still be do-able today, or would I be stoned by eco warriors before I left 'base camp'

Any advice would be gratefuly accepted :)

The key thing is to get the locals onside.  The Scots generally are great supporters of charitable efforts.  And they are well used to the 'weird, wacky and wonderful' wanting to do things on the UK's biggest mountain!  I recommend you get in contact with the Fort William (Lochaber) council and the local tourism promotion bods (see link below).  They welcome the downhill cycling world championships with open arms, so clearly are receptive to proposals for exciting events!

Good luck!
