Anyone remember "Moped Mayhem" ? Perhaps the mag could revisit via PTF's event? Just a thought..........

I have been reading through all the replies and this all sounds really interesting. I noticed a reply about a track in Lydd that could be an option. While I was out the other week I noticed signs for some sort of race event in Brenzet/Old Romney way. I wonder if this would be of interest to you if I could get the number or details? I could even have a word with our local bike shop to see if has any of his riding school 125's available?

I wonder if one of the maufacturers would be interested if they new it was going to have press coverage?

Well at the moment I can't promise there will be press coverage so I wouldn't like to dangle that carrot just yet.....

Punky its sounds like an awesome thing you're trying to organise. Try getting in touch with some of the girls from curvy riders they have members all over the place and are good at organising/raising money for charity events. Wont be able to make rideout but will donate after losing my dear old Mum to Cancer on the 11th Oct

Right then, well thats it. The race tracks have all said its a great idea but they can't help me. Which to be honest I was thinking would happen. I will have a rethink and let you know what I come up with. If I can't get a 'track' I will arrange a road ride for early next year and try to find a venue for a charity auction.

If anyone from here has anything bike related they don't want any more please PM me so we can add it to the lots already available. And if any bike staffers have any suggestions again, drop me a PM.

Cheers.

Whatever happens, I'd be up for joining the ride on my (t)rusty GZ125...  Have been reading all of the way through this and you have done a lot of organisation work.

Keep up the good work.  Looking forward to a mad 125 day.

Ok. Thought it was about time I added an update to this thread.

At the moment I have NO track and 2 lots for auction and I have run out of names to contact.

So as it stands unfortuantly what started as a new and novel idea is, I am afraid, going to become another sponsered ride out. Which don't get me wrong is great, but I was kinda hoping to be able to do something a bit different (mind you I think I have been setting myself up for this fall all along as not many companies will donate stuff now and no tracks will have a bunch of 125's on their circut).

So unless any of you can get some people to donate stuff for an auction, the idea is off and I will give the 2 lots to the first two people who arrive to the ride out.... Shame, but things happen.

Thank you UFDU. I really don't know what to say.

Oh and I got the voucher through from Draggin Jeans last night, not the hat and T shirt promised but a voucher for a pair of Jeans!!!

Things are looking up. I will plan the route for the ride out on the first week of January as I am off work and I will post it up on my return with a final date for the run. I will also try to find a place near by that will let me hold an auction there.

I haven't heard anything yet from them but I have been asked to formalise a request and send it in writing to the editor. I will do that as soon as the date is confirmed as I don't want to be wasting the jouno's time. I mean obviously if any of the lads want to come independant of the mag they will be more then welcome. :)

Right I have decided I will aim to do this on Saturday the 15th of March 2008. I will ask my mate who runs a pub if we can do the auction there. The ride will start at about 11:00 on Dunstable Downs.

ALL makes, models and engine sizes are welcome to come, however there will be a minimum sponsorship (TBC) to take part in the ride. This is to stop people who just want a blast coming along as I will arrange another ride for that another time. As this is the Punky's 125 125 challenge it would be preferable for people to arrive on 125cc bikes, but as I say not essential.

Anyone who is serious about joining me on this ride I will see if I can get a sponsorship form for download if not I will send them out via post. You will all be responsible for your own insurance, tax and safety, you should know if your machine will cope with the distance or if it is that rusty that it will collapse under the immense weight of such high (hahaha) mileage!

This may sound like I am being a bit funny, but if anything goes wrong or anyone gets pulled by the coppers I can't afford to be held responsible for it, sorry.
