Hello All,

As some of you may know I have recently lost my Great Aunt after an 8 year battle with Spinal Cancer. In my short life I have lost four people I love to the big C and I would like to arrange with you all a sponsered ride out. I haven't sorted details yet I was just seeing if people would be interested in joining me. I am thinking of going round the back roads to the Ace or doing the bike 440 on the 125.

If people would like to join me please let me know. I'm thinking of doing this in May, July or September next year as those months are significant to the reason behind the ride.

Thanks

Hi Punky,

I would be interested in joining you - esp. as you and some of the folks on the forum know I am dealing with prostate cancer.  So, you're talking 2008?

That would be good for me (hopefully) as my initial treatment will be in the rear view mirror by then.

Funnily enough some of the SEM have been talking about a sponsored Bike 440 - Cancer Research would be a good charity to do it for...

Actually having checked the length of the 440, I think that might be biting off more then I can chew on a CG125 with the length of it and the distance on the motorway.

I will have a proper think about a route and a date and get back to you all. Any interest is fantastic and more then expected, I just want to take a negative experience in my life and react to it in a positive way.

I'd be interested too. Maybe I could buy one of the Iron Curtains finest, MZ125 to do the ride on.

Just a thought...

Maybe it would make a better charity thing if we all did it on inappropriate bikes?

Totolly agree with you, it would be a good days ride even on a bigger bike.

How about The Punks 125 on a 125, cant say I will be there but will donate to your chosen charity if not.

If it's a mid-week thing, I might be able to get the loan of a dozen CG125s...

I'd be interested in joining in too. You can't get much more inappropriate than a lairy 650 single that does 65 miles to reserve!!!

Well, yopu probably could, but the seat's not the most comfy for long distance travel

Right I have a plan. Need to sort a hell of alot of things out but the idea is there.

Punky's 125 125 challenge.
  • Going to try to get a speedway or ex-test track.
  • Going to get my first bike on scene first aid course in the bag.
  • Going to ask St Johns if they will attend.
  • Going to set the Bike Journos a challenge and see if they are up for coming.
The basic idea is everyone on 125's doing 125 laps/miles around the circut. Its going to be alot of work but I think it will be worth it.

Oh yeah, going to do prizes for silliest costume, peoples champion, best bike, worst bike, and cheapest bike.

Somewhere like Lydd would be a good idea if you want to do it on 125's. They're basically short go-kart tracks so handling becomes all the more important and not top speed.

If you approached them and told them it was for a charideee event, you might get the sort of response you'd be looking for.
