Harley's extremely curious XR1200 is being launched this week. It's most interesting because it looks like it'll be a Europe-only model (a Harley not for America?), while the blub on the website (http://www.xrdna.com) talks of sports-tuned suspension and riding position, ample ground clearance, high-performance brakes, all given XR750 dirt-track styling and a surprisingly reasonable-sounding £7655 price. Plus there's a video of it doing knee-down cornering and vertical wheelies. Crikey...

So... tempted? What deal-breaker questions do you have that might be answered from the launch?

I reckon it'll be an interesting bike and will almost certainly need a new mindset to enjoy.

I'd ask how strong the clutch is. And how soon they could deliver one.

If I was in the market for something along those lines, I'd certainly consider it. But nearly £8,000 is a lot of money when you look at the other options...

there was an xr1200 replica in sunami (i think bike featured it) a few years ago, i reckon it looked better than that

1) why did you fuck up the exhausts?

2) why did you fuck up the seat?

3) why did you fuck up the wheels?

as an xr750 tribute it doesn't cut it. as a standalone harley, in black or silver, i fucking like it.

Isnt this the bike HD said they would build if euro riders asked for it?

My question would be Who asked, come on was it you.....yes you!!!

It looks quiet good but as TM said £8000 is a lot for what you get.

It's about the cost of a Speed Triple, no?

Big, retro-flavoured street bike head to head, anyone?

They may be old tech, but the quality of finish on my friends 10 year old Sportster is way ahead of any Japanese bike I've owned.

What on earth do you compare it with?  Other Harley Sportsters maybe, but its hard to see what else.

I think it looks fantastic, but that engine is hardly in competition with anything else in that price range.

And as bland, soul less and antiseptic as a bike can be. Trust me I owned one and I'd take the Harley.
