Yes, all according to plan, including eight hours of heavy motorway traffic in a van. Rideable? It should run when the battery's charged, but the brakes, suspension and bearings/bushes are all pretty shot.

Got the old bus running today - battery charged, old petrol blown through and new plugs: hell's teeth, I haven't seen plugs that bad for a long time. Proves that they didn't sneakily prepare the bikes before the JOG to LE ride, I guess, because those plugs have been in there for many a year. One was seized to its plug cap, fer chrissakes...
Gave her a test run - the good news is she runs and rides very well under the circumstances. Engine, gearbox and final drive fine (although zero clearance on the valves by the sound of them. Tsk tsk.), suspension and frame bearings/bushes not nearly as bad as had been suggested - I'll be replacing them anyway though. Braking efficiency zero, speedo u/s, throttle cables sticking, but in the main ALL GOOD, and a great basis for a special.
I have photos of the old plugs, Si...

Yes, it might! I'm cool with snippety pics and blog stuff, if anyone's interested... but we'll save the chapter and verse for the mag!
Also, Paul – I'll get those bits in the post... keep hassling me and I'll get round to it. Also – what's your address? Can you email me. Ta.
Um... I forgot to show you the state of the rear disc – I'll take a pic and post it on here. Later.

meant in the pages of the mag. Nice. In that case, I'll look forward to the bike's well documented transformation in the magazine.

I wish. I think Si H and Chippy have been too busy this year to come down for the stage 1 photos, which means the project can't move on to stage 2.
